EFREN NOT EDDIE WILL CHANGE THIS NATION

EFREN PENAFLORIDA and not EDDIE VILLANUEVA will change this nation. The 2010 Philippine Elections is a defining moment for our country. Things are heating up in the presidential race. There are so many mudslinging everyday and I don’t think it would end soon. Everyday we see candidates speaking so many things about how they would change this country and end poverty. But can they really do that? Can they make good in their promises? Everyday, they try to persuade us with their so many tv advertisement and I’m nauseated already with their sales pitch.
What made me write this article is because some religious people (yup, religious) are trying to persuade people to vote based on religion. What really pains me is that my spirituality is judged by the candidate I would vote for especially if I don’t vote for a certain candidate. I mean do I really sin if i don’t vote for EDDIE VILLANUEVA? Will I lose my salvation because I did not vote for him? Do i have a darkened mind and heart because I don’t agree with him? Am I sending the Philippines to a deeper pit by voting for a different candidate? It’s weirder still that the logic they use to vote for Bro. Eddie when used why NOT to vote for him is hardly accepted.
We’re fighting the wrong battles because the Bro.Eddie supporters are fighting and judging their fellow Christians as if they are a lower class Christians who does not have the enlightenment of God. We’re missing the whole point. I’m not writing this to ruin any candidate nor to endorse someone. I only writing this in behalf of the Christians that are judged (and probably condemned) just because we’re not voting by religious affiliations.
We’re talking here about the Philippines whom I dearly loved. And I know we can’t just let anybody run our country. Everybody has been talking of change but nobody wants to change themselves or begin where they are closest to: their communities. We want change from the top down instead of down up work ourselves up. We want big changes but not willing to work for little changes first. It is for this reason that I believe it is the likes and the examples of EFREN PENAFLORIDA who will change this nation.
I’m going to spare the satisfaction of writing in full details every point that I’m going to raise here. I just want you to know that my religious conviction is the same as my political convictions. I believe in the sovereignty of God that He can use whoever wins the election. And I believe whoever wins should not hinder us in helping our communities. And most importantly, no one has the right to use guilt tripping and spiritual blackmail just to get votes.
MY REASONS WHY I BELIEVE IT IS THE LIKES & EXAMPLES OF EFREN PENAFLORIDA NOT EDDIE VILLANUEVA WHO WILL CHANGE THIS NATION!
EFREN saw the need and problem of our country and acted by serving the community; EDDIE already knew the problem of this nation and chose to run for a position. Not bad, but why go for the highest position in the land?

EFREN used the little resources he had but used them to reach people; EDDIE has large resources and have many people spending for him. Is running for president the best use of those resources? Is running for president the best way to bring about change in this nation?
EFREN serves silently; EDDIE has full media coverage.
EFREN never had any visions or prophets to tell him to help people. The ability to see the need is already from God; EDDIE needs confirmation from visionaries and prophets telling he should run? But did it work?
EFREN worked on grassroots level that is already gaining momentum in the country and the world. EFREN’s cariton classroom is being duplicated all over the world; EDDIE wants to work from the palace to change this nation but really never gained momentum. They measure their strength by the crowds they gather. Why do they look at the crowd and expects all of them to vote for him?
EFREN earned the respect of the world both in the political and religious sectors; EDDIE ran for president and divided the religious world and got the scorn of the political world.
EFREN is still laboring for the poor people believing life can change; EDDIE is still pursuing his political ambition.
EFREN drew a circle embracing all sorts of people regardless of political and religious affiliations; EDDIE drew a line dividing people between those for God and against God depending if you vote for him or not.
Had EFREN loss in the CNN hero of the year, I highly doubt that he would cry and say, “I was cheated!”; EDDIE loss the presidential election and cried, “I was cheated!” And I thought he was not a politician. Oh please, never do this again. Accept defeat graciously and with humility. You have this election to redeem yourself.
EFREN never sought endorsement from politicians or from any religious leaders; EDDIE has his strategy in seeking religious endorsement. Why, oh, why? Is it necessary to seek endorsement from other religion when you know for a fact you don’t believe their theology?
EFREN never had a “MESSIAH COMPLEX.” He never projected that he is changing the Philippines or saving us from poverty; EDDIE and all of them have “messiah complex” believing they are the saviors of our country. I think it is us who needs saving from politicians from the delusions of grandeur!
EFREN never attacked the government with criticisms; EDDIE has always some thing bad to say about the government. It seems like EDDIE is exempted from so many verses in the Bible about respect for authorities. They would simply defend their actions by saying if the government is righteous. Respect for government earns respect from the people.
EFREN is courting Angel Locsin; EDDIE is already married (just for fun!)
Is Efren running for president? I’m glad he’s not and I hope he doesn’t run for any position not even for a Barangay Captain. I want him to keep doing what he’s doing because it is inspiring people to do the same not just in the Philippines but in the whole world.
I wish Bro. Eddie the best this coming election. I mean him no harm. I just wish they would not include God in their campaigns and platform as if they have the monopoly of God’s agenda and anointing. I respect him as a brother and that is as far as I go. I will vote according to what is in my heart and to what I see is needed in the country. I will not vote according to religion. I will vote according to what this country needs. I love my brethren and politics is one those things we should not allow to come between us.
The issue remains the same – this country needs to change. But that won’t happen in a single day with just one person. If this country will change it’s because there are people who knows the mess we are in but would labor from the sides virtually unknown and yet creating impact in their communities. This is why I believe it is the likes of Efren Penaflorida who knows the situation we are in but chose to do something about even without resources or position. I can mention some more like Iliac Diaz. The point is: the church is better off serving the communities rather than joining politics.
LET THE FIRE OF SERVICE FOR OUR COUNTRY BURN BRIGHT BECAUSE WE LOVE GOD!

the fact is that sometimes religious leaders who enter politics will take for granted the church community relationship for the sake of winning.. ganyan na nga ang nangyayari.. na divide na ang churches dahil sa politics.. nakow… nagiging jejemon ako sa issue na to… like ko pa rin si gordon at bayani..
we’ll wait and see how people will react to this…..
i do agree with that sobra… i will promote this to my friends…
I agree with all your points as well as your choice and freedom to choose for the upcoming General Elections.
It only shows that we Filipinos do not choose by default.
My vote goes to Bro. Eddie having my own reasons to justify it. What’s important in here is that we will be able to exercise sound judgement this coming election.
I salute you for being vocal about it. I salute you also for not going with the flow.
In the end all we have to do is to respect each vote casted and whoever wins lets accept it.
Affirmatively the good works of Efren and the visions of Bro. Eddie for the Philippines are all good. And behind this is God. All good things come from above.
God bless you more.
ganun naman talaga. there are just some people who over spiritualize things to the point of being judged with our relationship with God. In the end, God will prevail. For the meantime let’s do our share of helping our communities.
i appreciate it pong! you’re a good person!
Glory to God po.
And I agree with you that God’s will prevails.
Hope to see you soon.
PS
Lets admit that there are heads, pastors and leaders of every congregation that endorse Bro. Eddie. There are two case here: 1. If they dictate and 2. if they are just purely endorsing and leave the rest to its congregation kung sino ang iitiman sa balota, I hope and pray that in your case or other cases is no.2 and if no.1 as the case may be medyo parang nadefeat yata ang purpose ng church (solely sa case na iyon).
God bless po!
this is really tearing me up.
i think we’re fight the wrong battle. and it’s because the wrong battle, we’re shooting the wrong enemies. suddenly it has become brothers against brothers. i know it’s a risk to post this because it will be misunderstood by many. i’m not anti-Eddie. I just feel bad when brethren are looked down because we’re not voting the same candidate.
i still believe that when Christians and churches become missional (churches reaching their community), things will change for our country. we can only do what we have. the church has to go back to why it exists.
you’re a good person pong. really appreciate it. let’s pray for our country.
yep we will continue to pray for our country. sama-sama tayong manalagin specifically dun sa mga PCOS na gagamitin from the smallest piece of the machine to the transmittal of results.
sama-sama tayo.
I know God will make a way.
God bless you all and keep on pressing to our good Lord.
di ko na rin gaanong alam ang sasabihin….. yes, we’ll pray, sa election we’ll be cleaning up the mess by going to the city high and help out…. my facebook ka b? add naman, my pix dun nung sa bangus festival, para maiba naman tayo…. at hihintayin ko ung burger mo
praying for u as well bro

God bless.

i agree po.. if he want to serve people let it be wag na lang idaan sa politics.. maraming paraan dyan..
nag PASA LOVE na sana silang lahat!
vote efren for president… hehehehe… kay efren tayo.
yey! efren tayo! pag tumakbo un, mabo-blog un!
nasubukan na daw ntin matalino, pati bobo subukan naman natin son of gods, quiboloy tayo!!!!
C efren kc ang nakita. ung ninong natin, nagagalit! hehe!
we were revealed with different messages and differentvisions… lets just work that out together for thGLORY OF GOD
i agree w/u so much. even if we don’t vote for the same candidate,i’m sure we can all work together for the glory of God.
and all those differences you’ve stated is the reason why Efren is not running for president and why Bro. Eddie is.. hehe
I voted for Bro. Eddie last election but this time I’m going for Gordon. I also don’t agree that it should be taken against Christians if they decide to vote for other candidates other than Bro. Eddie. To say that we are at fault for doing so is, imho, arrogance. God deals with people individually.
BTW, I’ll let Efren know about this post.. hehe
thanks ronnie. i wrote this because i think we’re fighting the wrong battle and we’re shooting the wrong enemies. let the people and the Christians vote according to what God is leading them to do.
give my regards to efren, he makes me proud as a Filipino and as a Christian. and if there’s anything we can help him out with, we’ll do the best we can.
God bless!
You said too much and this is not right!
You said, “…I mean do I really sin if i don’t vote for EDDIE VILLANUEVA? Will I lose my salvation because I did not vote for him? Do i have a darkened mind and heart because I don’t agree with him? Am I sending the Philippines to a deeper pit by voting for a different candidate? It’s weirder still that the logic they use to vote for Bro. Eddie when used why NOT to vote for him is hardly accepted.”
I have been a friend to many JIL pastors, and have listened to their messages in some events but I have never heard them saying that any voter who doesn’t vote for him is committing sin or loses his/her salvation. I think you owe our JIL brothers an apology for saying wrong things which I believe you only made up in your mind. You really said too much and have lost your balance!
You said, “I mean him no harm…” However, with some of the things you mentioned, you are harming his good agenda for the Philippines. Some of your statements are deceiving. You are giving many some wrong impressions about the JIL movement. And to me, this is sin! Deceiving others is sin!
I am voting for Brother Eddie, not because of religion but because of his integrity as a leader and his strong stand against corruption. I am also voting for brother Eddie, not because of his religion but because of his personal relationship with the living Lord and Savior. Isn’t it true that he has an unquestioned integrity as a leader because of that special relationship with Jesus Christ, although of course he also makes mistakes as a human being just like the rest of us?
this is what i have been talking about. it’s when christians look down on others just because we’re not voting for a certain candidate. i know i will be condemned here and yet many will fail to see what the real issue is. i hope ur shooting the right enemy. when pastors like you send hate mails against manny villar, are you being a good christian or a good pastor? aren’t you pastor who espouses respect for authorities? doesn’t manny villar deserves the same respect from you?
lost balance? and pastors who engage in politics turning churches to political machineries are not losing balance? is this what you are called to do? will churches be better off by engaging in politics? let’s start with our own churches. if you enter politics accept the fact that people will have to say something about you whether good or bad whether from your religion or outside of it.
thank you pastor for your judgment.
I respect your opinion Sir JB the way I respect the view of our brethren blogger (owner of this post). I did vote for Bro. Eddie the last time and still voting again for him this time. I think this post is not something to be fought with or argue with. As I see it, he never intends to mudsling or demolish the credebility of Bro. Eddie actually he respect Bro. Eddie. And nothing is taken against JIL.
Pinpointing fingers to each other is not a thing to do in here. The call of the post is change. Behind Bro. Eddie’s visions is God and behind Efren good works is God and when God say something and ask as to do like in the case of Bro. Eddie who are we to question?
My dear brethren I stand in the gap and I apologized. This is not the time to accused one for being such. We were called according to what the role the Lord has given us. Now, lets do the best role, being God’s child.
God bless po and the Holy Spirit grant us all peace!
thanks pong. it’s people like you that makes me feel that there is always hope amidst the conflict. i also apologize for my comments. just want to let u know that because of this post a beauty queen who believes in efren and will vote for bro eddie has become my friend. and did u know because of this post someone saw our heart for service that she wants to support us now. and i don’t think she’s even a christian.
haay, i will cease na sa emotional comments. baka madaganan ka pa kaka-stand in the gap mo. thanks. i appreciate din ung pag sama mo sa aking tula. ikaw kc, ung kinakalawang kong damdamin, napapalabas.
God bless!
thanks bro and all the Glory to HIM alone. Praise God! The Servolution efforts and hardships paid off. Thanks to the Lady. Indeed once again the Lord showed his greatness to you and your team. Just continue serving, the best way you know how. Remember, your labor is not in vain. I do believe you and your team is doing 1 Tim. 4:12 Making a difference, Leading by example!
tama ka let go of those emotions, doon madalas tumitira si taning.
Be blessed bro.
I love to meet you all soon!
thanks for the poem you left on my site. i added it on my post. God bless bro. Stand firm and keep on pressing on our Lord Jesus Christ!
same to you bro, we hope this is the end and a new beggining
infairnes ang ganda ng mga blog mo, and i will follow it. god bless bro.
salamat din bro! yup, all ends tomorrow we cast our votes. God can have the results. tayo, let’s just serve God. probably,we can even work together. at saka, buking na kayo, kilala namin kayo!
