GIVING WHAT I HAVE

“If you want it, God has it. If God wants it, you have it.” These words were shared by Ptr. Julius Capua when he spoke at our church, FULL LIFE BAPTIST FELLOWSHIP last July 4, 2010. Ptr. Capua is the pastor of Malasiqui Baptist Church and the Moderator of Central Pangasinan Association of Southern Baptist Churches (CPASBC).
Ptr Capua shared on Mary’s story when she broke her alabaster jar to anoint Jesus with perfume (Matthew 26:6-13). From the story three things stand out when serving God. There should be NO RESERVATION, NO RETREAT, and NO REGRETS. Along the message these words got my attention, “If you want it, God has it. If God wants it, you have it.”
We always have needs and who better to ask from than God Himself. Although everyone should realize God only gives the things He said He would give and not the things we want for our wants. God doesn’t act on the things He did not say.
And if we put it the other way around when God asks something from us, we also have it. It’s just a question if we will give it to Him or not. And this is very true when it comes to serving God. Early I know that I have a calling from God. But I never wanted to entertain it because I don’t intend to be a pastor as my “career.” So, I ran……. for a long time.
Well God chased… and I chased back….. until we found each other. Well, more of He found me.
God called me to the ministry not because I’m good (never bought this reason) or I’m smart (not this one either). But God called me because He wants to use my life no matter how broken and imperfect I am. He doesn’t want me for who I am but who I can BECOME when I obediently follow Him. My journey with God has been an adventure filled with gripping pain and agonies but with untold joy that exhilarates my life.
I serve God because He called… If God wants my life, I’ll give it!

Thanks Ptr. Julius for the message.
