LOVE that GIVES is not LOVE that LOST

I don’t know if this is the season for break-ups but I have seen many of them lately.  Some have broken up and I think is in a drinking spree.   And they never invited us.   I’m just going to order soft drinks instead if they invite me.  And some are so silent I think they are so happy to get out of a relationship that never really had a chance of prospering.

But the relationship that broke up lately that caught my attention is between Diether Ocampo and Rima Ostwani.  I admit I got this from the BUZZ, Channel 2′s premiere show for gossips.  I admit I watch it occasionally.   It relaxes and amuses me at the same time after a half day of ministry.

Rima was interviewed by Boy Abunda and she shed light on their break up.  This girl is very pretty and you’d wonder why would Diether ever break up with her.   She revealed how Diether would everyday pick her up from work.  This was a guy who seemingly was going to make sacrifices for her.

Over time it would change.  Diether would now have so many excuses for not seeing her and would even put her in a position where she would get hurt badly.   That’s terrible!

Along the course of interview you’d see and feel for yourself the pain she is going through until now.  Her eyes are trying hard not to let go of the tears.  Her voice is calm and yet it wants to burst to cries.  She was trying to be strong but it’s written all over her face the untold hurts she is trying to recover from.  Her silence at some point reveals the scream that wanted to burst.  She said, “I know I lost an important part of me, but I still have my life…”

But there is one thing she said that really caught my attention and this is the part that i really want to give focus to.   Boy Abunda asked her if there was anything else she would like to say.  And this is what she said, “There’s nothing I want to tell Diether but ‘Thank You.’   Thank you for showing me love.  I didn’t know  I have this much love to give….”

It’s the last part that really hit me hard.  “I didn’t know  I have this much love to give….” She loved well and she gave unselfishly.  You see we will never understand love unless you give it away.   Love is always sacrificial and always on the giving side.  We will do things that sometimes we never we could do, but we did it still out of love.   Looking back, Rima saw what she became someone she thought she could never be because of love. And it was all good.

The most important part is that we love well.  If we love well, it won’t be our loss if we loved well and the other person did not.  The break up will prove to be a blessing for us, despite it is us who hurts the most . We lost someone who cannot make the sacrifice and commitment.  That person probably never deserve us in the first place.

We will never know the strength we have or the weakness we possess until we love.

We will never know the pain we will go through or the untold joys we may experience until we love.

We will never know the depths of sacrifice we will make or the surrender to selfishness until we love.

Love brought out the BEST in Rima.  The same love brought out the COWARD in Diether.

We will never know until we love.

I looked at God and what He allowed Jesus to go through on the cross.  The sacrifice that happened all pointed out to a God who loves me.  If you want to know how much God loves you, look at the cross and see how much sacrifice He gave for you.  God loves you.
