PASA LOVE & Project PEARLS: Just a SPARK

Let me break it down to a very simple cycle.  High crime rate is largely attributed to lack of education.  Lack of education of largely attributed to poverty.  When poverty grows, too many bad things happen.   And the bad things that happen, they can affect you.  Something has got to break the cycle.  Easier said than done, but it is possible.  Along the way, people with enough sense of conviction and faith would attempt to break the cycle.  They do so not in political or grandiose ways, but on simple acts of kindness.

These are some of the kids we teach and feed at Pantal District, Dagupan City.

Acts of kindness are powerful ways to break the vicious cycle.  Kindness serves as an inspiration that somehow would change one’s life bringing enough realization that someone still cares.  Kindness serves as the face of God that it the midst of darkness and struggles, there’s a glimmer of hope for everything.  But I guess, the greater part is that it sparks something in people and makes them be part of something worthy of doing – sharing kindness.

Serving champorado and bread with cheese!

It’s notable that there are many non-government organizations, non-profit groups, people groups, private corporations and faith-based groups are already doing such things.  We need more.  We can’t have enough groups or individuals who would break the vicious cycle of poverty.  Let me name two who are involved into acts of kindness.  They’re not big name or rich people, They only have big hearts.

PASA LOVE - Servolution Pilipinas Team along with K1 (Kuya Juan).

PASA LOVE is not a group that fits in any of the categories I have mentioned.  They’re not NGO, NPO, PG, PC, or Faith based groups.  Although you can find them at a church – Full Life Baptist Fellowship.  PASA LOVE is not just a ministry of a church.  It is more of the blood or the DNA of the church. Everything we do is built upon a service of kindness to our fellow men.

The Project PEARLS team who traveled all the way from Caloocan City.

Project PEARLS for us are simply our friends and kindred spirits.  Our desire to see Filipino children have a better chance at life is incomparable.  Melissa Villa Wilcox who leads Project PEARLS is someone greatly committed to this cause.  We have high respects for her.   Actually, who cares about groupings or where you’re coming from, if kindness and service is what you do, we can all collaborate.

In one twist of fate, PASA LOVE and Project PEARLS met.  PASA LOVE has moved towards the slum to reach the children.  Project PEARLS decided to help out.  There is now a feeding project every other week in Pantal Area, Dagupan City because of the collaboration that happened.

Helping each other out on the common goal benefits the children a whole lot better.

Last July 31, 2010, both teams finally met!  There was a feeding schedule on that day and everyone just came together to do what we were supposed to do: teach, love and feed the children.  It was  a great day!  Both teams wore their respective uniforms, each identifying which group they belong.

It really doesn’t matter what shirt you wear, it’s about the heart!  On that day when you see two separate group coming together for a greater cause bigger than themselves – you will only see LOVE or better yet GOD INCARNATE.

Taken at the beach for picnic and fun. The faces tell it all.

I am PASA LOVE.  I am Full Life.  I am SERVOLUTION.  I am Project PEARLS.  I am KINDNESS.

Smiles of children are always a pretty sight.

We know that feeding won’t be enough.  It will require something bigger to turn things around.  I’m still praying for the Educational Center and Livelihood Center one day.  I know it will happen at the right time.  But right now, doing what we can do is always a  good start.

The task is great.  We know we cannot do this alone.  All that we could do is start with what we have and hopefully others would see this great cause and join the revolution of helping the Filipino children.

Thank you Project PEARLS for the gift of FRIENDSHIP and PARTNERSHIP, and the chocolate.

A song reads:

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing;
That’s how it is with God’s Love,
Once you’ve experienced it,
Your spread the love to everyone
You want to pass it on.

I think I already belong to the "underprivileged" category.

I think i now belong to the "underprivileged" category coz of my size.

Look closer. This little kid was paying for his champorado when it's totally free!

PASA LOVE and Project PEARLS is just creating a SPARK that will turn into a WILDFIRE of love and kindness for the Filipino children.

So, why don’t you join?
