THE MESS THAT I AM IN

I was given a book and a note says: “Being the light of the world requires getting messy sometimes. May we be willing to MESSY for God!”
I wouldn’t know what this means until I started reading this book: ORGANIC CHURCH by Neil Cole. Let me share some few thoughts. I have to admit this messed me up big time. And it’s what I need in my life.
“The temptation is to define the church according to our own experience. We think we know something because of familiarity. By defining church this way, we are assured that we are always right, but this is a cheap solution that perpetuates all our current problems. It is much more vital to look at the Scripture with honesty and courage as we try to define church. Once we ask the question, however, we must be ready to expect the unexpected.”
We really do have a problem when it comes to defining the church. How you define the church will shape what you do in the church. The reason why churches are not growing and multiplying is because of their definition of what the church is. If you define the church to its irreducible minimum you’d see the very thing of what a church is. And if you follow this and start doing church this way, the church may reproduce in an amazing way.
We’re trying it out. We’re exploring. We know it can work!
We’re NOT doing our BEST, we’re doing the IMPOSSIBLE!
Chaordic!

The note also made me think, what the author is trying to suggest/s.
It caught my attention the ORGANIC CHURCH, which is like Organic Chemistry way back college, it simply suggest life. The carbon and it’s composites that support life.
Now, defining the life of church that is!
Be blessed po pastor!
