MOVEMENT not MONUMENT

I have just read BREAKING THE MISSIONAL CODE: Your Church Can Become a Missionary in Your Community by Ed Stetzer adn David Putman.

“Churches that need revitalization need to ask why they are stagnant in the first place.  It is amazing  but consistent – churches that need to grow think they can do it without change! They think they can break the code by doing the same things they have always done.  The problem is, if they keep doing things the same way, they will have the same result.

Instead most churches  need to be led to embrace change if they are going to see different result.”

There are so many changes happening in the world today and it seems the church is the only one that resists change.  As the world change the gap between the church and the people widens and the church is not interested in closing the gap…. at least not all.

But there are a growing number of church who knows the gap and decided to do something about it.  And these are the missional churches who took a big leap and risk to close the gap.  They are innovative churches who will sacrifice for people to be ushered in the kingdom of God.

The book is about the church that should not “cut and paste” a model church but truly understanding their own community and finding out how the gospel can come in.  Churches will come in all sizes and shapes.  There is no use finding a perfect model which we should measure ourselves to.  From where we are, we have to learn our own community to reach it.

Lately churches that innovate are criticized for watering down the gospel and have cheapened the whole salvation thing.  I don’t really know.  All I know that if it’s not working, fix it…. try to do something about it, and never glory in something that can never be useful today.

Churches that innovate are merely exercising faith…  Show me someone with faith and I’ll show you a great movement.  Show me someone who refuse to change and I’ll show you a useless monument.  Churches are supposed to be MOVEMENTS and not MONUMENTS!

    Great one pas.
I grew up in Campus Ministry (we deal with students and the campus as a community), iba ang approach, the G12. It’s fruitful and beneficial. Some condemned it. The las time I visited there and according to kuya neil and the rest of the bros and sis there they went an outreach already within the 5 barangays surrounding the vicinity of teh campus, It’s G12 plus community works. It’s effective.

When I was able to engaged in Missions course it’s more of bringing the church in their house, thus, House-Church approach, it’s effective.

For God’s glory, I recalled one of my teacher’s lesson is that, the best way you know how how to stand between the gap do it, for both ends to meet.

Beng radical, conventional, traditional is not the case. Being stagnant is death. Bringing change when we, like Jesus Christ able to attract crowd, great crowd. Remember Jesus’ crowd (multitude) composed of poor people, common people, officials, persecutors, sick and everything. It’s God’s magnet that I think we have to do. He himself did radical way, remember the Sabbath story. He reiterated that the day is not the Holy, it’s the Lord.

Ang haba ng nasabi ko pas, parang post na ito. Wal lang po nanumbalik lang asa aking mga alaala. Be blessed po pas!

lastly pala, ano man yung hawak nating pattern, tool, techniques, and everything, it won’t matter, why? our works are not in vain and His seeds will never be wasted. Same as His crowds, there are centurions, tax collectors that turned to HIM.

    mahaba na po ulit.

there are so many models out there that can be used to really build the kingdom of God… the problem is we, Filipinos want is by the book and then discard everything when it does not work…

many pastors do not study well….. they should in the context of the filipino culture. great that the g12 is working out there…
