MAKING USE OF A LIMITED TIME

BUCKET LIST is highly recommended movie by my friends.  I think it’s a story about two old men who were about to die and made a list of what they should do with the remaining time that they have.  I have never watched the movie but it’s sure a good idea to plan and pursue and what you want to do given with the limited time we have in this world.

If ever you have a limited time on this earth,  what would you do anyway?  Many of us would probably go an adventure and travel the whole world.  Some may go on a smorgasbord and eat all the food they want to eat.  Some may pursue a relationship they never had and risk falling in or out of love.  I’m sure we can do a lot things with a very limited time we have, but have ever considered what God tells us what we should do and not what we can do?

Matthew 21:28-31:Parable of Two Sons

28“But what do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, ‘Son, go work today in the vineyard.’

29“And he answered, ‘I will not’; but afterward he regretted it and went.

30“The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, ‘I will, sir’; but he did not go.

31“Which of the two did the will of his father?” They said, “The first.”

The parable has a very obvious truth: Do what your told.

The MAIN POINT: It’s not what we can do, but what God tells us to do.

We can do a lot of things in this world, but will they count for eternity?  Are the things we’re doing really matter in the heart of God?  What is God telling us to do as we live in a limited time in this world?

Let me share a few things God has told us to do.

1.  Love the Lord your God with all your heart, strength, mind and soul.

2. Love others as yourself

3.  Act justly.

4.  Love mercy.

5.  Walk humbly with your God.

And I’m sure there are more when it comes to what God wants us to do.  We have to understand that we are on a limited time and our life is but temporary.  We need to use it wisely because God has better plan for us.  Use your life as an investment for eternity not temporary by doing what God is telling you to do.

So, will you do what you want to do or will you do what God tells you to do?
